I have a dilemma. I'm trying to do a Hawkeye costume, which will include his jacket from the beginning of the movie. I have found the actual jacket, but I need to put the patches on the sleeves. Now, there are two different SHIELD logos. One is the one they used for Black Widow's costume in Iron Man 2, and one is the one they use in The Avengers.

This is the Iron Man 2 one. )

This is the Avengers one. )

As you can see, you can get a set of the Avengers patches that face different directions, so that the heads of the birds (I assume it's an eagle) faces toward the front, which is what they're supposed to do.

The Iron Man 2 one I can only find facing the one direction.

So here's the dilemma. Hawkeye's jacket has the Iron Man 2 patches. If I used those, then one eagle would face forward, and one would face back.

So which would be better? Using the right patch but having one face the wrong way, or using the wrong patch but having them face the correct direction?

This post is solely because I finally made an icon for Clint and Natasha.

That is all.

Not content with writing 3500 words for my Camp NaNo novel, I had to finish up a fic I started a while ago. It was a very silly idea I came up with while in the shower one day, and decided to go for it. It can't be all angst, all the time, right? *g*

(I really do need to create an icon for these two, considering I have two other fic ideas already, so it's unlikely I'm going to stop posting about them any time soon.)

Like so many things in our house these days, it started with Tumblr and the Avengers. I saw a post while scrolling the Avengers tag about how someone had made cookies because of a piece of fanfiction that they'd read. They provided a link to the fic, and of course I was curious, so I clicked through and started reading.

First of all, it's one of the funniest fics I've come across, and while it's not perfect, her portrayal of the characters is, at least in many cases, dead on. And really, the whole thing seems pretty plausible, which just makes it funnier.

So really, maybe before you continue reading this, you should go read the story, so you understand where this is coming from. It's all right. I'll wait.

Phil Coulson Does Not Bake (and The Avengers Do Not Shop At IKEA Anymore) by scifigrl47

So anyway... the cookies are described as having ginger and molasses in them, and being a bit sweet and a bit spicy. [personal profile] rikibeth had a recipe for ginger molasses cookies that she used to make back in her baking days, and she thought it might suit.

But then there was the issue of the jam. In the story, it says loganberry, but what they actually have at IKEA is lingonberry. Now, as it happened, Whole Foods had lingonberry jam, but not loganberry. We decided to go with what was probably correct, rather than what the writer had actually written, assuming that they must have gotten confused.

And wow. They are really good. Like, as good as they're described to be. Sweet and spicy and a little bit tart because of the jam. When they came out, they're crisp around the edges but still chewy in the middle, and just plain delicious.

So we have achieved Cosmic Cookies, and as Thor would say, "THIS COOKIE. I LIKE IT. ANOTHER!"
